Finding diamonds in the slop: How to move from data overload to clear, insight-driven decisions

With AI notetakers on every call, connectors to CRMs and ticketing systems, and a flood of AI-generated ideas, organizations are inundated with data on what to build. Sean Gillispie walks through the method that turns all of that input into a decision you can defend.

Why this session

Point AI at a pile of client conversations without a point of view and it hands back a long list of things people said, which is volume rather than insight.

In all the organizations we work with, the problem has never been a lack of ideas. Client requests pile up faster than anyone can prioritize, meaning that often the voice with the most authority, or the customer with the largest budget, decides where the firm invests. Services firms struggle the most, because the habit is to build for the client in front of you, even when you’re trying to build something that can scale across many customers.

What we'll cover

From a pile of client input to a decision you can defend

In 45 minutes, Sean will share the system he built as VP of Product at Employee Navigator and now uses with his clients. It let him build a clear, insight-driven roadmap and shifted the culture from asking customers what they want to discovering how to deliver better outcomes.

  1. Use your expertise to build a short list of customer problems worth solving.Build a customer problem list of 25 to 50 items that you can prioritize to a top five. You craft every problem from your own judgment and point of view.
  2. Use AI to mine the raw data.
AI helps triage the tons of inputs by tagging the customer quotes that support or contradict each problem, so you gain real-world context and can spot the frequency and urgency behind the requests.

You’ll leave ready to start your own system this quarter. Bring questions for the Q&A.

Who this is for

Practice partners, managing directors, and senior leaders at B2B consulting, advisory, HR, legal, and information services firms who are deciding where the firm invests next. It will resonate the most with anyone who has enabled new AI tooling in the last six months, and the volume of input has outrun your ability to act on any of it.

Common questions

What if I cannot attend live?

Register anyway. We send the recording to everyone who registers, usually within two business days.

Do we need to be selling something standardized already?

No. The curated list works just as well for a firm that sells nothing standardized today, because it is how you decide what the first one should be.

How long is it?

Forty-five minutes of content starting at 11:00 a.m. ET, then live Q&A with Sean for anyone who can stay.

Do we need particular AI tools for this to be useful?

No. The method works with whatever you have, including notes in a document. Firms already running call recording or notetakers will have more input to sort, not a different process.

Can I bring my team?

Please do. Ask each person to register separately so they each get the recording and the slides.
